Your test will be on Chapter 17 Thermodynamics. Please use the in class review worksheet to help you study.
Questions 1-10 will be labeling a heating curve for water. Study your notes from class (for water), and your classwork/homework for your unknown. (REVIEW WS QUESTION 16, 17)
Questions 11-13 will describe a process (example: alcohol evaporating) and you label as endothermic or exothermic (REVIEW WS QUESTION 9)
Questions 14-24 will be matching (REVIEW MATCHING QUESTIONS)
Questions 25-37 will be multiple choice questions.
The majority of these questions are very similar to the review worksheet from class.
Also: make sure you can convert calories to Joules (and Joules to calories).
You will have 3 Short Answer questions:
Specific Heat Lab (PreLab): An unknown metal is heated and then dropped into water inside a calorimeter. Calculate the specific heat of the metal.
Given a balanced reaction and the mass of one compound, calculate the amount of heat released. Online practice problems are given here: Thermo Equations
Given a balanced reaction, calculate the change in enthalpy for the reaction. Use standard heats of formation (Table A13). Online practice problems are given here: Using Heat of Formations .
