What you should do to study: |
|
-
Don't wait until the night before the test to study. That is called cramming and it doesn't really work in a subject like chemistry.
-
Before the test, make sure you have read and understood the text (all of the pages assigned). You are responsible for the entire text for the unit, whether or not it was lectured/reviewed in class. There will be test questions that come from your reading material.
-
Get your homework packet together and review the different types of problems and how to solve them. Work any problems that you are unsure of, or need practice solving. I love putting homework problems on the test! If the homework question is short answer: memorize it! If the homework question is a math problem -- memorize HOW to do the same problem with different numbers.Review your notes for any starred or highlighted information and memorize it!
-
In your notebook, you should have sample problems that I have gone through with you in class. Redo all these sample problems and verify you can solve them.
-
Find any vocab in the unit - either from class notes OR from the text. Memorize them.
-
Complete web exercises for each unit by clicking on the list below for the chapter that you are studying. These are a great tool, don't forget to use them! These are also found on each daily agenda.
-
Try sciencegeek.com - I love this website and the teacher is using the SAME text we have. He makes some GREAT practice tests for his students, mostly grouped by topic or standard. I think it is silly to redo what he has done and call it "mine," I'd rather just point you to his site: online quizzes.
